#TeamTranslator hits 1000 members
24 January 2024 – The #TeamTranslator Slack group has officially hit 1000 registered members.
This represents a significant milestone for the group, which we (Anikó Pető-Mordovski and Kelsey Frick) started as a positive and supportive space for freelance translators to connect and learn from one another.
The achievement is right on the heels of our first anniversary and official incorporation as a community interest company, both of which we’ve celebrated this past November.
We’re taking it as a sign that a large membership base is evidence that #TeamTranslator was something that was missing within the freelance translation community. Freelancers were looking for a space where they could network with colleagues and find support in a sometimes hostile and oftentimes lonely profession.
We also see this as a win for improving the working conditions of freelancers in the translation industry: the more people that we can empower with support, resources, and community, the better all of us will be.
Anikó and Kelsey both gave their thoughts on the milestone:
“We’d never thought this would become such a huge thing! There are now 1000 of us in #TeamTranslator with 1000 perspective to share!”
“It’s still a surprise to me just how big the community has become. Sure, we don’t have 1000 members in there, interacting each day, but it’s grown into its own thing. The members keep the community alive.”
We thank all of our members for believing in #TeamTranslator’s mission. Community is one of the most powerful tools we have as freelancers.
