#TeamTranslator becomes a registered community interest company
28 November 2023 – After just over a year since launching, #TeamTranslator has officially become a registered community interest company in the UK.
“CICs are limited companies which operate to provide a benefit to the community they serve. The purpose of a CIC is primarily one of community benefit rather than private profit.,” according to the GOV.UK website.
After experiencing tremendous membership growth of over 900 members in the past year, we (co-founders Anikó Pető-Mordovski and Kelsey Frick) decided to incorporate #TeamTranslator in order to make the group more sustainable for the long term.
Speaking about the decision, Anikó posted on LinkedIn:
“The ‘community interest company’ will allow us to bring more resources and events to our members with the help of sponsorships and partnerships with other organisations in the localisation industry.”
Kelsey shared her emotional reaction to the news:
“I had to sit back and take a moment this morning as I was writing this to have a good cry because I’m so proud of what we, our amazing moderators (Isabella, Lucía, & Matthieu), and this entire community have built.”
We at #TeamTranslator look forward to being able to grow and do even more now that we’ve taken this step. We are working hard behind the scenes to add more value to the group and find new ways to support our members.
We keep #TeamTranslator free for everyone, visit our joining page and fill out the survey to register.
